Alder Health Services set to open Lancaster Health Center, expand outreach to include LGBT seniors

Alder Health Services was founded by a group of concerned citizens in a church basement in Lancaster City in order to address the growing local AIDS epidemic and began providing services to the South Central Pennsylvania community as the Lancaster AIDS Project in 1985.

They’ve recently decided to extend their outreach to LGBT seniors, a growing population with specific needs within our communities.

They’ve also announced the upcoming opening of the Lancaster Health Center on July 19.

From Alder Health Service:

Lancaster Health Center Prepares to Open

In February 2012, the board of directors of Alder Health Services began exploring the possibility of opening a health center dedicated to meeting the health needs of the LGBT Community, individuals living with HIV/AIDS and those struggling with addiction in our community. After weeks of looking at dozens of properties in Lancaster County, the Agency found our new Lancaster home – 1891 Santa Barbara Drive, Ste. 104.

As May comes to a close, renovations are now complete and the Health Center is quickly being equipped so that Alder Health may begin offering mental health, primary care and STD services in Lancaster in addition to our HIV support services and prevention programming.

Please mark your calendar for our Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Reception on Thursday, July 19 from 4:30 to 6:30.
